Eid al-Adha - Feast of the Sacrifice

As one of the two major holidays in Islam, Eid al-Adha denotes a vast range of values and emotions. Charity, obedience, celebration, devotion, prayers, and family gatherings are just a few of the aspects that go into making Eid al-Adha a grand holiday.
Typically, the commemoration of this festival involves communal prayers, people wearing their best clothes in celebration, sacrificing an animal, and sharing the meat of the animal in a very particular way - one-third of the meat is for the family, one-third is for friends and relatives and the remaining one-third is for distribution amongst the poor and needy. The aim of this sharing is that every Muslim gets to eat meat on this day.
Speaking of food and nourishment, one of the most popular foods during the Eid al-Adha is the ubiquitous dates. There are many different kinds of gifts that can be exchanged during this time but the gift of something edible is perhaps one of the most satisfying way of connecting with other people.
One of the most important elements of Eid al-Adha is the meal time - it brings together families, and friends and sets a nostalgic tone for the rest of the year. And you can make it sweeter with dates! Ask us for details on dates as gifts.
